moving house

Do you remember the last time you moved home, I bet you swore you would

  1. Never do it again and / or
  2. Get someone else to do it for you next time

Packing, sorting, decluttering, selling no longer wanted items and packing the treasures prior to a move is not a problem if you have the time, energy and inclination to do it. It’s even better if you don’t have to do it all yourself and you are lucky to have a decent support network you can call upon to do some of the things you can’t manage to do yourself.

As with all good intentions – people say “let me know if I can do anything to help” knowing full well you won’t take them up on it, and if they do, they understand that they are going to have their own sets of priorities and commitments and won’t be able to do as much as you would like.

Yes they can do some of it, but not everyone has the emotional or physical capacity to take on all those things that you can’t manage to do at the moment.

Did you know you can outsource packing everything from your curios to milk churns?

Our client, an elder lady asked for our assistance with downsizing and relocating to a smaller property on the Eastern seaboard. She had already begun the decluttering process, but there was still a lot to do.

Jay traveled South of Perth to Regional WA to discuss K’s needs and to Map the Way forward for her.

Happy to move forwards and with the first of the photographs taken, Jay headed back to the office to discuss the project with the team.

There were many aspects to this particular Senior Move that made the project exciting and just a little different from a normal senior move.

First was the final destination. Everything had to be packed, safely for the transit.

The second was the scale of the project. K had a lot of curios she wanted to take with her and pass on to her family. And those curios ranged from tiny dolls tea sets to antique prams and trikes and as you can imagine everything in between. Alongside the usual linen and Manchester K’s collection included antique clothing, rare and fragile books as well as many pictures from her family’s horse racing days and life on a dairy farm.

Jay had organised for a local removals company to do the heavy lifting and slowly, box by box, picture by picture K’s precious collections were packed and readied for her next great adventure.

With the house sold, settlement date set and a garage sale organised for the final bits and pieces it was important to move quickly but at all times under consultation and clarification from the client to get the job done. Mrs K was able to complete the first phase of her downsizing and relocation on time and it was a pleasure to see her sit and go through the paperwork knowing everything else was under control.

Downsizing, relocating and moving doesn’t have to be stressful – when you know the outcome and you understand the steps you need to take to get you to your final destination.
