This week saw the start of one of the biggest moves undertaken by the team of NE Solutions Lifestyle Change Coordinators and Senior Move Managers.
45 residents of the Braemar Lodge Aged Care Facility in Bicton are moving to their new home in Melville this week. Named “Cooinda” it is an Aboriginal word meaning happy place, and the old Lodge residents are definitely happy about the move. And one of the main reasons is they don’t have to do any of the physical work.
We do everything.
We pack their treasures, move them and unpack them at the other end.
We keep everything together so the residents don’t have to worry about anything. Their treasures are taken care of, so when they move into their new facility it feels like they are going home – because they are.
Cooinda is a state of the art facility and the care taken by Braemar to make it feel homely while providing care for 108 of its more frail residents is second to none. Given the recent and disturbing news about cutting 1.2 billion from aged care – which was handed down by the government recently – the residents at Braemar appear to be some of the lucky ones.
So why are we doing the job?
Quite simply we are WA’s first Senior Move Managers, recognised through the National Association of Senior Move Managers ® handling every aspect of caring for our elders while they are going through lifestyle changes. When you don’t have family or a network of people to help you do the physical tasks, it can be extremely distressing and stressful.

With the Braemar Lodge move to Cooinda – it has been all of that and a little bit more including project planning and logistics. But seeing the smiles when the job has been done, is definitely worth it.
